About me

Currently, I am a Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science at the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science (ICMC) at the University of São Paulo (USP), and a research intern at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), creating machine learning models and validation model techniques to help understand factors that may influence democratic elections. Previously, I did my Master’s degree in Computer Science at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) and my Bachelor’s in Computer Science at the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM). During my undergraduate, I got awarded a scholarship to study for a year at Saint John’s University (NY, USA) and Stevens Institute of Technology (NJ, USA), one semester each.

In my experience as a Master’s student, I got a profound knowledge of fuzzy set theory and machine learning applied to data streams, which reflects on my publications in leading conferences such as the IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems (FuzzIEEE). In addition, my passion for data science and machine learning has driven me to learn all sorts of different topics, such as Deep Learning, Evolutionary Computation, and Machine Learning Operations (MLOps).

In my free time, you will find me reading mangas, playing guitar (I love to play Brazilian MPB songs), or drinking beer with my friends in a pub. If you are interested in my projects, codes, and papers, please reach me on my social networks or email. I am also available for a conversation about the last One Piece chapter, especially if you offer me a beer.

Now

Right now I am focusing on:

  • The intersection between machine learning and social science with applications in electoral processes
  • Studying the foundations of Geostatistics to propose and develop spatial-based ML methods
  • Studying validation model techniques to assess models fitted on data with spatial dependence

Regarding side projects I am:

  • Learning about Machine Learning Operations (MLOps)
  • Studying JAX
